Exotic Tropical Fish has one of Perth's largest selections of tropical
fish. Please select from one of the types of Tropical freshwater fish below to see some of the
species that we usually have in stock. As we stock hundreds of types of fish, we can't list them all here. This is just a sample of the fish we most often have in stock.
As
there are thousands of tropical fish available in Australia that are
suitable for aquariums, we can't list them all below, or keep many of
them in stock all the time.
If you are after something that we haven't listed, please feel free to:
- Contact us via this website,
- Give us a call on 9408 1551, or
- Drop in to our store at 1 Dellamarta Rd (corner of Lumsden St) in Wangara - we're open 7 days!
One of the first things you'll notice about Exotic Tropical Fish is our assortment of weird and wonderful species. Cichlids, originating from mainly Africa and South America, are easy to breed and great for young children as they survive well in a Perth tap water environment. Although they can be aggressive to each other, Cichlids are sociable and love people.

Tetras/Characins are one of the most widely available species of tropical fish, with the Neon Tetras being one of the worlds most commonly kept aquarium fish. Most species of tetras are schooling fish and will not show their normal behavior patterns or colors unless the are kept with a minimum of at least six individuals of the same species, with more being better. Most tetras can easily be kept with peaceful species such as dwarf cichlids and catfish. Larger fish should be avoided as they can dominate the tank and eat these smaller tetras.
