Discus fish are tropical freshwater fish native to the Amazon River basin. The first characteristic you would notice with the discus fish is its flattened body shape. It is compressed from the sides to a round plate or discus shape. Discus fish are shy and peaceful aquarium inhabitants, and have some special needs when it comes to successfully looking after them.
